Deanna Allamay Olson

Deanna A. Olson, 83, of Willmar, died Monday, March 28th at Carris Health Rice Hospital in Willmar. Her memorial service will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, April 9th at Crow River Lutheran Church in rural Belgrade. Visitation will be one hour prior to her service. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Deanna Allamay Olson was born November 1, 1938, to Wallace “Bud” and Delores (Kirk) Doty in New London Township. She grew up in the New London-Spicer area and then on the family farm by Belgrade. In October of 1955, Deanna married Alvin Schaeffer. They lived in Yankton, SD. During this time Deanna stayed at home and raised their children. They later divorced. In 1966, Deanna married Duane Olson and they made their home in Willmar. When Deanna was in her 50’s she attended Ridgewater Community College. Later in life Deanna started working at the Kandi Cupboard in Willmar, and also volunteered at Goodwill. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting and embroidery. She also enjoyed listening to music, especially the oldies. Deanna loved family get togethers and also rescuing cats.

Deanna is survived by her children: Steven Olson of Asheville, NC, Roger Schaeffer of Willmar, Debra Olson of Brooklyn Park, Daniel Schaeffer of Coon Rapids, Rita Jeanne Vadner of Paynesville, Scott Olson of Loveland, CO, and Robin McCormack of Willmar; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings: Donay Doty, Lana Doll and Kristen Doty.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother, David Doty.
