Deloris Corrine Roen was born on August 11, 1930, in Kandiyohi County, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Alfreda (Lindgren) Henjum. She grew up and received her education in the rural Sunburg community.
On November 18, 1950, Deloris was united in marriage with Henry S. Roen. They lived and farmed near Sunburg for many years, and in May of 1951, their daughter, Kathleen (Kathy), was born. Deloris was a member of Hope Lutheran Church where she was active with the ladies aide.
Deloris enjoyed traveling, music, gardening, and baking. She was fortunate to travel to many places with Henry, including Norway with her daughter, and Seattle to see her sister, Ramona. She also loved her time as a foster grandparent at the Barnehagen Preschool in Sunburg, where she enjoyed helping the children during the school day and spoke of them as if they were her own grandchildren.
Deloris also loved music and dancing. She always had music playing, and in her early years, she played the accordion and the piano. Her feisty spirit and wonderful sense of humor remained with her throughout her entire life.
Deloris died January 7, 2026, at Cura Nursing Home in Willmar, at the age of 95. Deloris is survived by her daughter, Kathy Peterson; her two grandchildren, Stacy Peterson and Shannon (and Clint) Vanderiet; and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Paige Vanderiet.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry; her son-in-law, Arnold Peterson; seven brothers, Marvin, Orville, Julian, Elwood, Burton, Harold, and Wilbur; and four sisters, Jeanette, Frances, Una, and Ramona.
