Delwin Charles Schwitters was born to Herman and Fannie (Peters) Schwitters on February 24, 1939, in Montevideo. He grew up on the on the farm near Clara City. Delwin attended elementary and later graduated from Clara City High School in 1957. On April 7, 1961, Delwin was united in marriage to Elizabeth Meyer at Bunde Christian Reformed Church. This union was blessed with three children: Eileen, Jerry and Tammy. They lived on the family farm where Delwin continued to work until passing the farm on to his son, Jerry in 1993. He enjoyed showing his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren the ways of the farm. Delwin and Elizabeth moved into Clara City where they have lived since. Delwin was an active member of Bunde Christian Reformed Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, Bible study leader and as the President of Mr. and Mrs. Club. He was a member of Gideons and enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, play cards and marbles, and spending the last 30 winters in Florida. Delwin especially loved his family and enjoyed spending as much time with them as he could. He took pride in making people laugh and to him a stranger was just someone he hasn’t met yet.
