Delwin Charles Schwitters, 81, of Clara City, died Tuesday, September 15th at St. Cloud Hospital. His celebration of life service will be at 1:30 pm, Monday, September 21st at Bunde Christian Reformed Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Delwin Charles Schwitters was born to Herman and Fannie (Peters) Schwitters on February 24, 1939, in Montevideo. He grew up on the on the farm near Clara City. Delwin attended elementary and later graduated from Clara City High School in 1957. On April 7, 1961, Delwin was united in marriage to Elizabeth Meyer at Bunde Christian Reformed Church. This union was blessed with three children: Eileen, Jerry and Tammy. They lived on the family farm where Delwin continued to work until passing the farm on to his son, Jerry in 1993. He enjoyed showing his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren the ways of the farm. Delwin and Elizabeth moved into Clara City where they have lived since. Delwin was an active member of Bunde Christian Reformed Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, Bible study leader and as the President of Mr. and Mrs. Club. He was a member of Gideons and enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping, play cards and marbles, and spending the last 30 winters in Florida. Delwin especially loved his family and enjoyed spending as much time with them as he could. He took pride in making people laugh and to him a stranger was just someone he hasn’t met yet.
Delwin is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth, children: Eileen (Arvin) Brouwer of Prinsburg, Jerry (Brenda) Schwitters of Clara City, and Tammy (Scotty) Roelofs Kessler of Papillion, NE; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings: Lowell (Marcia) Schwitters, and Bob (Sharon) Schwitters; sisters-in-law: Jan Schwitters and Joy Schwitters.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Eugene Schwitters and Wayne Schwitters and son-in-law, Dan Roelofs.
