Ditmar Burton Ditmarson

Ditmar “Burton” Ditmarson, 87 of Spicer, died Monday, August 1, 2022 at his home. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Hawick United Methodist Church in Hawick.  Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in Nordland Lutheran Cemetery in rural Paynesville.  Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in New London.

Ditmar Burton Ditmarson was born on August 8, 1934, on the family farm in Irving Township, the son of Ditmar and Bessie (Jorstad) Ditmarson.  He grew up on the farm and summers in Fort Ransom, North Dakota with his mother’s family.  On August 30, 1958, Burton was united in marriage to Caroll Pelkey.  They were blessed with two daughters and a son.  He farmed for a few years before moving to Spicer and working for the railroad in 1972 as a welder.  He retired in 1997. Burton and Caroll were able to share in 60 years of marriage before her death on January 28, 2019.   

Burton enjoyed wood working, fishing, visiting the farm in North Dakota and working the Sod Busters Thrashing event.  He mostly loved spending time with his family.

Burton is survived by his children, Debra Ditmarson (Lee Rients), Anthony (Jeannette) Ditmarson and Elizabeth Rierson; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Pat Carlson, Barb (Donnie) Jones and Roxanne (Gary) Oeltjenbruns and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Caroll; parents; and three brothers-in-law and sister-in-law.
