Dolores Lamecker Obituary

Dolores Lamecker, age 89, of Lake Lillian, died Sunday, November 8, 2020 at Carris Health Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.   A private Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, November 13,  at the Church of St. Mary in Willmar. A link to stream the service will be available on Dolores’ obituary page on the funeral home website, www.hafh.org.  Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.  Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.

 

Dolores Marie Lamecker was born March 27, 1931, in St. George, Minnesota, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Klingler) Gitter.  She grew up and attended school in St. George and was baptized and confirmed at St. George Catholic Church.  On August 25, 1953 she married the love of her life Otto Lamecker at St. George Catholic Church. They lived and farmed near Lafayette until 1960 at which time they moved to New Ulm where she was a stay-at-home mother, raising their eight children. In 1970, they moved to their farm near Lake Lillian where they farmed until 1994. Dolores and Otto were inseparable and taught their children to be self-sufficient and how to work together while working on the farm. 

 

Dolores was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Lake Lillian, where she was active with CCW and the quilting guild, and taught religion class.  After the closing of St. Thomas More, she became of member of the Church of St. Mary in Willmar.  She enjoyed sewing and made over 100 quilts.  She also enjoyed gardening and raising chickens.

 

Dolores is survived by her eight children: Corrine Gleisner (and special friend Greg Tauer) of Willmar, Jean (Alan) Hoffmann of New Ulm, Bruce (Cheryl) Lamecker of Atwater, Diane (Mark) Weber of Lakeland, Scott (Teresa) Lamecker of Kerkhoven, Delores (Jeffrey) Blom of Thief River Falls, Otto Jr. (Betty) Lamecker of Rochester, and Christine (Bruce) Bomstad of Hutchinson;  24 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren, plus one due in January.  She is also survived by her sisters: Phyllis Portner of New Ulm, Mary Ann Domier of New Ulm; and Alene Berdan of Winthrop; a sister-in-law: JoAnn Gitter; and other relatives and friends.

 

 She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years: Otto in 2014; a sister: Joann Fischer; and a brother: Philip Gitter.
