Donald Lottman Obituary

Donald (Donnie) W. Lottman was born June 13th (Friday the 13th) of 1943 to parents Wally and Laura Lottman. Donnie passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 6, 2024, with his family present.

Donnie’s parents soon moved to the “Lottman Farm,” south of Kerkhoven, where they put down roots. Donnie, known by many as Lucky, was followed by brothers Gary, Woody, Steve and then little sister, Debbie. Donnie had to leave school early to help on the farm, but as legend has it, he already knew pretty much everything there was to know.

Lucky soon met and fell for the lovely Marcia Ann Amdahl. They were married in 1965 and were soon blessed with the two most outstanding kids any couple could hope for when along came sons, Scott and Eric.

The new Lottman family started their life on a farm just south of Kerkhoven, they then moved north of Kerkhoven and then into Kerkhoven. They eventually moved back south of Kerkhoven before finally settling in the old Amdahl homestead north of Kerkhoven.

Lucky was a man of many talents. He worked as a farmer, bus driver and nail bender. He also co-owned the Butcher Block with Wendell Thorson. They were known countywide for their choice cuts. As their motto said, “You may beat our service, but you can’t beat our meat.”

Some of Lucky’s favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, gardening and his true passion, checking crops.

Donnie was preceded in death by his wife, Marcia, parents, Wally and Laura, and his brother, Woody. He is survived by sons, Scott (Jen), and Eric (Shelly); siblings: Gary, Steve and Deb; and grandkids: Chelsea, Katelyn, Lauren, Wylee and Quinn, and great grandson, Oslo. Also surviving is his special friend, Candee Gruehl.

In lieu of gifts please make a generous donation to the Kerkhoven Lutheran Church.

A celebration of life will take place at his favorite son’s home, 560 170th Ave NE, on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 1 – 5:00 pm.

Happy trails Dad!
