Donald was born March 22, 1935, in Inkster, North Dakota, on the farm, the son of Raymond and Myrtle (Toppin) Wagar. On December 28, 1946, at the age of 11, he trusted in the Lord Jesus as his personal Saviour.  Don said, “I was sitting at the dining table around 3 in the afternoon when Hector Alves asked me if I would like to be saved,” I said, “Yes.” He read John 3:16 and Revelation 21:8 to me, and I realized what a sinner I was.  I had always tried to be a good boy, but I knew I had told a lie before.  I understood that by telling one lie I deserved to be in hell.  I thought about the love that the Lord Jesus had for me to go to Calvary’s Cross and lay His life down for me, and I rested in the finished work of Christ and trusted Him for all that is to come.”  Don graduated from Inkster High School in 1954.  Following graduation, he went to Denver, CO, to receive polio therapy.  He later attended Aaker’s Business College in Grand Forks and graduated with an accounting degree in 1956.  Don worked as a bookkeeper for Fargo Freight Terminal, Auction City, and then 6 ½ years for Northwest Nursery.

On June 22, 1957, he was united in marriage to Joyce Beauchamp at The Gospel Hall in Valley City, ND.  To this union four children were born, Scott, Linda, Bonnie and Rebecca.  They moved to Willmar, MN, in October of 1963.  After moving to Willmar, he worked for Knigge Roofing, farmed, and in 1975 started Country Fix-it Shop with Scott.  He later did the bookwork for S.E.W. Enterprises.  Don was in fellowship with the Christians at the Willmar Gospel Hall.  His love for the Lord Jesus Christ and the Word of God were evident to all who knew him.  He enjoyed spending time with his family. Many will remember the hospitality in their home and the Bible that was read following the meal.  He will be remembered for his kind and gracious mannerisms that characterized him to the end.

Surviving are his children, Scott (Patricia) Wagar, Linda Lavery, and Rebecca (Mike) Jaenisch, 13 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings, Doris Johnson, Myrna Christopherson, Lois Koehn and also Jeannene Goerke, Lee Wagar, and Beverly Roeding.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Joyce, on March 14, 2022 and daughter, Bonnie, on July 5, 2020 and brother, Willis Wagar.
