Donna M (Serbus) Ridl

Donna Ridl, 77 of Spicer, died Saturday, November 19, 2022 at her home near Spicer.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 25, 2022 at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Spicer.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Service will be live streamed at https://www.ourlivingwater.org/donnaridl.html Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in New London. 

Donna Mae Ridl was born on July 20, 1945, in Bechyn, the daughter of Ben and Blanche (Knisley) Serbus.  She grew up in Bechyn where she attended country grade school and Danube High School, graduating in 1963.  On September 21, 1963, Donna was united in marriage to Kenneth Ridl at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bechyn.  After they got married, they lived in Renville.  In 1973, they moved to their home in Spicer, where she worked as administrator and bookkeeper in the family trucking business.  She was actively working until the time of her death. 

Donna was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church where she served on Finance and Funeral Committees and taught faith formation and was on the Council of Catholic Women.  Her life centered on her family, especially by making her home warm, welcoming and loving for all her children and grandchildren.  She will be remembered for her great cooking, quick wit and dedication to her faith, family and family business. She enjoyed canning and freezing from the family’s large garden, shopping, cooking for family and friends and decorating her home.    

Donna is survived by her husband of 59 years, Kenneth; children Rodney (Susan) Ridl of Willmar, Denise (Rick) Crestik of Iron River, WI, Duane (Michelle) Ridl of Spicer, Keith Ridl of Spicer, Ryan Ridl of Pipestone, and Lynae (Shawn) Petersen of Spicer; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and brothers, Jerry (Pam) Serbus and Doug (Donna) Serbus.  She was preceded in death by parents and grandchildren, Benedict Petersen and Anna Ridl.
