Dorothy Beseman

Dorothy Marie Beseman, 94, of Atwater, died Friday, February 7 at Cura Therapy Suites in Willmar. Her visitation will be 1:00 - 3:00 pm, Saturday, April 26 at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. Dorothy Marie Hubbartt was born on November 19, 1930, to Clarence and Signe (Syverson) Hubbartt in Willmar. She was baptized at home and confirmed at Calvary Lutheran Church. Dorothy attended country school before graduating from Willmar High School in 1948. She then pursued her education at Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in 1951. Dorothy began her career as a surgical nurse at Rice Memorial Hospital. She then worked as a nurse at Dr. Russel Thompson's optometry practice. Later on, she returned to Rice Memorial Hospital, where she served as a dialysis nurse until her retirement in 2003. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church.

Dorothy loved her horses and enjoyed equine activities. She loved showing Quarter Horses and Appaloosa Horses with her daughter and grandchildren. She was active in Minnesota Quarter Horse Association serving on the board of directors for a few years. She belonged to ApHC, and served on the GRAC Board of Directors.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Melinda (Fred) Barker; grandchildren: Daryl (Christine Riemersma) Barker, Caitlynn (Steven) Rime, Brady (Carrie) Barker; great-grandchildren: Mykal Barker, Haley Barker, Rylan Barker, Addisyn Birr, Clara Barker, and Emery Barker; six step-great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Petrick.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Signe.
