Doug Hagemeyer, 70, of Blaine, formerly of Willmar, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 17, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. His memorial service will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 22, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to his service. Please dress in whatever makes you comfortable (Doug would being wearing a polo shirt).  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Willmar Junior Golf Foundation or the Alzheimer's Association.  Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Home in Willmar, www.hafh.org

Douglas Leon Hagemeyer was born on May 23, 1956, in Clara City, Minnesota, to Henrietta (Grussing) and Leonard Hagemeyer. He grew up on a farm and graduated from Clara City High School in 1974. He went on to attend the University of Minnesota Morris and later transferred to the University of Minnesota. He then began working at Timber Wholesalers in Clara City. The team went on to build its own lumber treatment facility in Willmar in 1978.

Doug met the love of his life, Kim, at a softball game after a dispute regarding the size of the strike zone between Kim, the pitcher, and Doug, the umpire. They married on June 30, 1979, and went on to build a wonderful life together in Willmar, centered around their family and two sons, Scott and Ryan. They shared 47 years of marriage.

Doug spent 40 years as a partner at Timber Wholesalers, where he was known for always taking care of his fellow employees and friends, no matter the state of the timber market. After a short retirement, he went on to work part-time at TPC Twin Cities, where he found a passion for cutting cups and mowing perfect fairway lines early in the morning.

Outside of work, Doug’s first and most important passion was being a father. He enjoyed watching his sons compete in basketball and swimming and was always at every meet or game.

He loved golfing with his boys, fishing, spending retirement winters in Arizona, working on his immaculate lawn, and enjoying lake days with his grandchildren at his home in Blaine. Those who knew him well will remember his sense of humor and the abundant joy his family brought him.

He is survived by his mother, Henrietta; his wife, Kim; his sons, Scott (Laura) and Ryan (Sarah); his grandchildren, Emma (12), Audrey (10), Henry (5), Max (3), and Eliza (3 months); and many extended family members and friends who loved him dearly.  He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard.

His sudden absence leaves an enormous space in the lives of those who loved him. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
