Edward H. Anderson, 83 of Belgrade formerly of Buffalo, died Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Bethesda Grand in Willmar. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Crow River Lutheran Church near Belgrade. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at church. Interment with military honors will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Buffalo.
Edward Harry Anderson, born on July 11, 1941, in Delano, the son of Harry and Olga (Barfknecht) Anderson. He grew up in Delano and graduated from Delano High School in 1958. In 1964, Ed married Betty Lou Reinitz, and together they were blessed with two sons, Shawn and Dean. Though they later divorced, Ed remained a devoted father and grandfather.
On March 16, 1966, Ed entered the U.S. Army, where he proudly served in the transportation division and earned sharpshooter status. He was honorably discharged on March 15, 1968. After returning to Minnesota, he settled in Buffalo, where he owned and operated Anderson Trucking until 2012.
In 2017, when Ed retired, he moved to Belgrade to be with his longtime side kick, Delores Walstrom. The couple enjoyed their retirement, sharing in motorcycle trips, dancing, and spending time with family and friends. Ed had a remarkable ability to connect with people and was known for making friends wherever he went.
Ed died on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar, at the age of 83. He is survived by his partner of 24 years, Delores Walstrom; his son, Dean Anderson (Paula) of Appleton; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Donald (Judy) Anderson and Danny Anderson. Delores’ family Kim (Darrell) Smith, Diane (Paul) Mutterer, Clay (Rhonda) Walstrom, Chris (Val) Walstrom, 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Shawn; his parents; and his sister-in-law, LuAnn.
