Elaine G. Danielson Carlson , 97, of Willmar, died Monday, January 20th at Bethesda Grand in Willmar. Her memorial service will be at 1:00 pm, Saturday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to her service. Burial will be at a later date in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Pennock. www.hafh.org
Elaine G. Carlson was born to Christian and Eleanor (Rasmussen) Fransen on May 11, 1922, in Willmar. She grew up Willmar and graduated from Willmar High School in 1940. On July 6, 1946, Elaine was united in marriage to Donald Danielson at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pennock. To this union three children were born: Marla, David and Craig. Following their marriage, they lived in Benson for a few years, then moved to the Fransen farm near Pennock before they moved to Willmar. They eventually moved to Mankato in 1962 and continued to live there until Donny’s passing in 1976. After Donny’s passing, Elaine started working as a Daycare provider, where she worked for 15 years. She enjoyed going to her cabin on Norway Lake which she had built after Donny passed. She would often live out there for weeks at a time. Elaine was united in marriage to Kenny Carlson on January 27, 1991, in Mankato. Elaine loved watching the Twins and even went to a game at Target Field with sons, David and Craig. Elaine went on trips to various locations with her daughter, Marla. She also enjoyed going to concerts and plays in Willmar and Mankato. She was a loving wife, mom, grandma, great-grandmother and friend.
Elaine is survived by her children: Marla (Larry) Westlund of Mankato, David (Dawn) Danielson of Garden City, and Craig Danielson of Willmar; grandchildren: Lisa Westlund (Greg Klevos), Jasmine Mumuni, Lindsey Friesen; great-grandchildren: Alaina Westlund, Payton Klevos and Diondre Solis Friesen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother, Juliet Fransen; both husbands, Donny and Kenny; siblings: Mary, Ginny, Corrine, Joyce and Peter; and grandson, Brett Westlund.
