Elaine H Howell

Elaine H. Howell, 90, of Willmar died Friday, March 13th, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar.  Her memorial service will be at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 1st at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar.  Visitation will be from 9:30-10:30 am, Saturday, August 1st at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. Due to heath concerns the church will require masks and a lunch will not be provided after her service. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.  www.hafh.org

Elaine Helen (Kriesel) Howell was born December 10, 1929, in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Benno and Iva Marie (Kumpula) Kriesel.  She grew up and received her education in Excelsior, MN and St. Cloud Teachers College.  She taught school before her marriage to Robert S. Howell of Sacred Heart on May 30, 1952. They moved to Willmar in 1956, where Elaine worked as a bookkeeper for a law firm from 1963-1997.  She was an active member of Calvary Lutheran Church, where she was involved in education, the Advent Festival and church council.  After retiring they continued to live Willmar. 

She loved her family, knitting, sewing, collecting bells, and playing cards. 

Surviving are her husband Bob; children: Bradley (and Renee) Howell of Marvin, SD, Michael (and Jean) Howell of Miles City, MT, Ric (and Lori) Howell of Donnelly, and Su (and Wayne) Jeffrey of Windom; grandchildren: Brad (Cheri) Howell, Callie (Alex) Howell, Matt (Carrie) Blackwelder, Jenna Howell, Shelley (Brian) Douty, Meagan (Jim) Hartje, Kathleen (Aaron) Towne, Mary (Will) Baumann, Caroline (Brett) Roth, Sarah (Vinicius) Jeffrey Sena,   Jennifer (Hector) Jeffrey; 22 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Iva Marie in 1942; brother, Richard in 1972; and father, Benno in 1977.
