Elaine Audrey Stulen, 93, of Spicer, died Friday, October 20th at her home in Spicer. Her funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Wednesday, October 25th at Green Lake Lutheran Church in Spicer. Visitation will be one hour prior to her service. Interment will be at the church cemetery. Memorials are preferred to Green Lake Lutheran Church. Elaine Audrey Stulen was born August 9, 1930 to Eddie and Anna (Hansen) Thompson at their home near Kandiyohi. She was confirmed in Green Lake Lutheran Church where she was a member until she died. Elaine grew up in the Spicer community and graduated from the Willmar High School in 1948. She was united in marriage to Carsten Jacob Stulen on February 9, 1952. They made their home on a farm South of Spicer and were blessed with four children: Darlene, Carol, Bob and Beverly. Elaine was active in her church and loved the Lord. Her favorite scripture reading was I Peter 5:7 “Casting all your care upon Him for He careth for you!” Elaine enjoyed volunteering at church, she was active in sewing circle, WMS and other ministries. She also enjoyed sewing, embroidery, and baking, especially her homemade bread and lefse. Elaine also enjoyed spending as much time as she could with her family and her grandchildren always had a special place in her heart. She was a loving wife, mom, grandma and friend.
Elaine is survived by her children: Darlene (Stephen) House of Maple Grove, Carol Stulen of Plymouth, Bob (Tina) Stulen of Aylett, Virginia, and Beverly (Jeff) Ulrich of Cologne; grandchildren: Dustin (Lauren) Stulen and their son, Emery, Zach House, Tory (Betsy) Stulen and their son, Clint, Carly (Jereme DuPaul) Ulrich, Kirstie (Tyler) Halverson, Carsen Ulrich, Brooke, and Ashley (Jason) Mosher and their children: Aubrey and Jaxon along with two step-grandsons and their families. She is also survived by her siblings: Alloys Thompson of Kandiyohi, and Opal Stulen of Willmar, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carsten, parents, brother Howard and Marie Thompson, and brother-in-law, Leonard Stulen.
