Eldy was born on December 17, 1934, in Willmar, the son of Alfred and Alta (Henslin) Hauser.  He grew up on the farm north of Raymond, attended country school and graduated from Willmar High School.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Raymond. Following graduation, Eldy enlisted in the US Navy and upon his Honorable Discharge, he returned to Raymond where he began farming.  Even after leaving the farm, Eldy reminisced about his love of farming.

On August 16, 1958, he was united in marriage to Angeline “Angie” Berget at St. John’s Lutheran Church.  They farmed north of Raymond until moving into Willmar in 1981. During the early to mid 1980’s, they owned and operated John’s Supper Club in Willmar.

Whether he was playing cards into the wee hours of the morning, roller skating, dancing, or conversing with others at one of the local establishments, Eldy enjoyed life to the fullest. Eldy’s love for his favorite town team, the Raymond Rockets, remained consistent over the years as he played, managed, and was a devoted fan.  He was honored in 2013 to be part of the first group inducted into the Raymond Rocket Hall of Fame. Eldy and Angie’s concern for others was evident in their life, as they accepted many foster children into their home where they treated them as their own.

Surviving are his children: Kim (and Greg Herdina) Rutledge of Eagan, Tim (and Julie) Hauser of Waconia, and Kevin (and Bonnie) Hauser of Raymond, Susan (and Tom) Schilling of Wanda, John (and Jan) Leuze of Raymond, Shannon Hauser of St. Cloud and Steve Hauser of Atwater; 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.  Also surviving are his sisters, Arlys (and Duane) Lindgren of Willmar and Sue Hauser of Eagan and sisters-in-law, Lynette Hauser of Willmar and Darlene Hauser of Sarasota, FL.

Besides his parents, wife, Angie, and special friend for many years, Gretchen Kray; he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ronald and Eloyd and granddaughter, Leah.
