Elizabeth "Betty" Combs Obituary

Elizabeth “Betty” Combs, 87, of New London, died Sunday February 9, 2020 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Spicer.   A Knights of Columbus Rosary will be at 9:40 a.m. followed by a visitation for one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery in New London. Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in New London.               

Elizabeth Grace Combs was born on March 25, 1932 in Liverpool, England, the daughter of Joseph and Florence (Williamson) Stanton.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. Oswalds Catholic Church, Old Swan, Liverpool.  While working at Burtonwood Airforce Base as a civilian, she met and later married Kenneth Combs in 1953.  This union was blessed with three sons and a daughter.  They moved to the New London area in 1955 where they commenced dairy farming with his brother, Duane.  They later bought a farm in Lake Andrew Township.

 Betty was an active member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church where she helped in religious education.  She was active for 10 years with a group for “parents of children using alcohol and drugs” She worked as a nurse’s assistant at GlenOaks Care Center for two years. She also enjoyed flower gardening and other hobbies. 

Betty died on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at the age of 87.  She is survived by husband, Kenneth; children, David (Sherry) Combs, Janet (Gerald) Frost, Steven (Amy) Combs and Michael Combs; grandchildren, Christopher, Andrew, Kyle, Abbey, Nathan, Zachery, Aidan, Gaelan; step-grandchildren, Jeremiah,Angie, Credem and Cameron and four great-grandchildren, Mikiah, Hope, Rose and Charlie.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
