Ellamae Henry, 79, of Murdock, passed away Tuesday, July 28th at St. Cloud Hospital. Her visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm, Friday, July 31st at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Kerkhoven and continue one hour prior to her service. Her celebration of life service will be at 4:00 pm, Saturday, August 1st at the Jerry and Ellamae Henry farm (1380 20th St. NE, Murdock). Please bring your own chair. Ellamae Henry was born January 9, 1941, to Wilbert and Agnes (Ruter) Bratsch in Willmar. She was baptized at Church of the Nazarene in Willmar. Ellamae attended elementary and high school in Willmar. On June 27, 1958, Ellamae was united in marriage to Jerry Henry at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. They started farming in 1960. While farming, they had dairy and beef cows, pigs, ducks, chickens, and even a pet pig. Ellamae enjoyed helping on the farm and even gave herself the title of “Domestic Engineer.” She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Kerkhoven where she served as treasurer, deacon, Sunday school teacher, usher, greeter and with the ladies aide. Ellamae enjoyed selling sweetcorn with her grandchildren, helping out people in the community, having garage sales, cooking and watching hummingbirds. Her greatest joys were traveling with her family and friends and attending her family’s sporting events. She was active in 4-H, Lions Club, Donation Back Pac Program and Meals on Wheels. She was a generous giver to her family, church and the community. Ellamae was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Ellamae is survived by her children: Caryl (and Chuck) Henry-Weets of Murdock, Darlene Henry of Jordan, Gerry Ann Thompson (and Dennis Brletich) of Prinsburg, Darrel Henry of Murdock, Kristin (and Rob) Riedy of Grand Island, NE, Sharin (and Brian) Nelson of Willmar; 19 grandchildren: Cory, Tara, Chad, Cari, Harsey, Dylan, Brandon, Mitchell, Christopher, Jaden, Crescent, Kari, Caleb, Amber, Andrew, Ashton, Taya, Tiffany, Tori; and 34 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Wilbert “Bill” Bratsch.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry; parents; brother, Roger; and one infant daughter, Peggy Jo.
