Erlis Arlene Priebe was born May 16, 1940, on her family farm in Chippewa County, Minnesota, to Clarence and Edna (Reiners) Priebe. She attended country school through 8th grade and graduated from Kerkhoven High School in 1959. Erlis was baptized and confirmed at Kerkhoven Lutheran Church.
In 1960, she married Merlyn Flickinger at Kerkhoven Lutheran Church. Together, they farmed north of Kandiyohi and raised three children: Mike, Robin, and Merlyn Jr. Erlis worked at Wonderall for 10 years, Rice Memorial Hospital for a year, and spent 32 years at Jennie-O before retiring—all while remaining an active part of the family farm.
Known as the "mowing lady," Erlis was always busy—whether helping on the farm, traveling with Merlyn, or strolling ocean shores collecting seashells during winter getaways.
She is survived by her children: Mike (Sandy) Flickinger of Kandiyohi, Robin (Chuck) Compton of Hubert, NC, and Merlyn Jr. (Sue) of Kandiyohi; grandchildren: Zachary (Kailey VanEps), Alicia (Dave Magnuson), Kristy (Chris) Chiras, Holley (Vincent) Waddell, Jackie (Greg) Isajewicz, and Melvin (Tayler Goude); and great-grandchildren: Brynlee, Thaxton, Ava, Colby, Amelia, Patrick, Elania, and Heather.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Merlyn, (on December 15, 2014), brother Floyd and sister Elaine.
