Ernest Meyer Obituary

Ernest “Ernie” Meyer, 97, of Willmar, died Friday, April 4th at Copperleaf Senior Living in Willmar. His memorial service will be at 11:00 am, Friday, April 11th at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to his service. Private interment will be at Bethel Lutheran Cemetery in Willmar. Memorials to honor Ernie may be directed to Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar. Ernest Meyer was born May 12, 1927, to Herman and Ida (Karsjens) Meyer in Clara City. He attended country school in Reiderland Township and worked on the family farm. Ernie joined the Army Air Corps in 1945 and was honorably discharged in 1947. He was united in marriage to Ardyce Holm at Lebanon Lutheran Church in New London in 1949. They lived in Olivia where he managed a grocery store until they moved to Willmar in 1955. Ernie was a route supervisor for Continental Baking Company until 1963. He then worked in sales for the Kandiyohi Coop Electric until he retired in 1989. He and Ardy continued to live in Willmar where they were active members of Bethel Lutheran Church. They always enjoyed their family times together at Lake Florida and their bike rides on their tandem bike. They even biked around Green Lake on their 65th wedding anniversary. Ernie and Ardy were fortunate to celebrate their 75th wedding anniversary this past June. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa and friend. 

Ernie is survived by his wife, Ardy; children: Steve (Julie) Meyer, Craig (Mary Lynn) Meyer, and Jan (Tim) Young; grandchildren: Joe Meyer and Lisa (Aaron) Mueller; great-grandchildren: Ian Holbrook, Wyatt Mueller, Levi Mueller, Kade Mueller, Isaac Mueller.

He was preceded in death by his parents and eleven siblings.
