Eugene Edward Tisdell

Eugene Edward Tisdell, 93, formerly of Spicer, died Wednesday, January 5th at his home in Willmar. His memorial service will be 11:00 am, Friday, April 22nd at Church of St. Mary in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to his service. Interment will be in St John’s Catholic Cemetery in Morton. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar, www.hafh.org

Eugene Edward Tisdell was born January 31, 1928, to Edward and Charlotte (Neuens) Tisdell in Renville County. He was baptized and later confirmed at St. John’s Catholic Church in Morton. He attended school in Morton where he graduated in 1946. After high school, Eugene was drafted into the US Army where he served during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he moved back home where he took over the family farm. He continued to farm near Morton for 35 years. He would later work for Renville County, where he worked for 13 years.

On August 30, 1958, Eugene was united in marriage to Marilyn Elfering at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bird Island. To this union three children were born: Mark, Carrie and Lisa. They lived on the family farm until moving to Spicer in 1995. They continued living in Spicer until moving to Willmar in 2013.

Eugene enjoyed playing cards, fishing and hunting pheasants and deer. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa and friend.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Marilyn; children: Mark (Kay) Tisdell of Mobridge, SD, Carrie Tisdell (Dewitt Dotson) of Eden Prairie, and Lisa (John) Hennen of Minong, WI; grandchildren: Roy Tisdell, Dr. Makayla Tisdell, Danielle (Tyler) Westling and their children: Mason and Brenna, and Sean Hennen. He is also survived by his sister, Geraldine (Robert) Simmons of Willmar.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings: Charlotte, Florence, Harriet and Harold.
