Eva L. Kotula, 100, of Willmar, died Saturday, January 4th at Brookdale in Willmar. Her funeral service will be at 11:00 am, Friday, January 10th at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to her service. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Mahtomedi. www.hafh.org
Eva Lucille Kotula was born October 8, 1919 to Arlie and Frances (Carlson) Mills in Graettinger, IA. She attended elementary and high school in Graettinger and graduated in 1937. She continued her education and received her Teaching Certificate. On March 7, 1942, Eva was united in marriage to Joseph Abel Sr. They would later divorce. Eva worked at Sterling Products and Plastics where she worked as a book keeper. On May 25, 1974, Eva was united in marriage to Stanley Kotula in St. Paul. They continued to live in Oakdale before moving to Willmar in 2002. Eva enjoyed dancing, bowling, reading, and collecting little spoons from the places she traveled to. She was a loving mom, grandma and great-grandma. She crocheted Afgahns for all of her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling to Gulf Shores, AL and also to her lake home on Bone Lake in Wisconsin.
Eva is survived by her children: Joseph (Barb) Abel of Naples, FL, Lawrence (Antoinette) Abel of Pasadena, MD, Suzanne Brown of South St. Paul, Sally (Jeff) Reed of Paynesville and Donald (Joy) Abel of Neillsville, WI; 9 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister: Betty Pompe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, 7 brothers and 2 sisters.
