Florence I. Netland

Florence I. Netland, 88, of Willmar, died Friday, May 28, 2021, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar.  Funeral services will be 2:00 pm. Sunday, June 6, 2021, at East Norway Lake Lutheran Church near New London.  Burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to donors choice.  Arrangements are with the Johnson Funeral Home in New London.

 Florence Iva Netland was born in New London, the daughter of Christian and Lena (Swenson) Korsmo.  She grew up on the Korsmo family farm near Lake Florida and attended New London High School, graduating in 1950.  After graduation she moved to Pennock where she worked as a bank teller.  On November 19, 1952, Florence was united in marriage to James (Jim) Netland at East Norway Lake Lutheran Church.  They made their home in St. Cloud and Harmony before settling in Deephaven where she was a homemaker and day care provider.  They retired to Ridge Point in Minnetonka. Florence moved to Bethesda in Willmar in May of 2017. 

Florence attended Grace Lutheran Church in Deephaven where she was active in Sunday school, altar guild, circle and Bible study. Florence was a member and former officer of Sons of Norway Nidaros Lodge where she folk danced with Jim, helped host lutefisk dinners and collected stamps for Tubfrim. She enjoyed traveling, baking Kransekake and other Norwegian pastries, and hosting special occasions.  She was a loving grandmother who had a special relationship with each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Florence died on May 28, 2021, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar at the age of 88.  She is survived by her husband, Jim, of 68 years; children, Cindy (Ali) Netland, Kathy (Dan) Rosendahl and Mark (Kathy) Netland; son-in-law, Steve Vining; grandchildren, Sukaynah, Kristian, Kurt, Bruce, Becky, Kaitlin, Colin, Alison, Jenna and James; eight great-grandchildren, and brother, Kenneth (Elaine) Korsmo.  She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Pati Vining; and siblings, LuAnn, Conrad and Helen.
