Gary Lee Laffen

Gary L. Laffen, 84, of Atwater, died Monday, January 5th at his home.  His memorial service will be 11:00 am, Friday, June 5th at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar with military honors.

Gary Lee Laffen was born March 1, 1941, in Bird Island, MN, the son of Arthur and Gladys (Emerson) Laffen.  He grew up in Hector, later moving to Atwater where he was confirmed and graduated from high school. He served his country in the US Army, serving in Germany and eventually retired.

On July 5, 1984, he was united in marriage to Oy and made their home in Thailand for 3 ½ yrs before moving back to Atwater.

He enjoyed music, dancing, traveling, camping and spending time with his wife and their dog, Trix.

After moving back to Atwater, Gary worked at Walmart, Jennie-O, sold cars and was a driver for people who needed assistance with transportation.

Surviving are his wife, Oy, of 42 years; son, Gary (Theresa) Laffen Jr; granddaughters, Nicole (Brandon) Bowman and Tiffany Laffen and three great granddaughters, Slon, Tessa and Dephanie Bowman. Also surviving is his sister Sandra Laffen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dennis and sister, Alene.
