Geneva Lois (Bonnema) Grussing was born June 4, 1937, to Trieko and Jennie (Ledeboer) Slagter on the family farm near Prinsburg. She grew up on the family farm where she helped clean, bake, cook and take care of her younger siblings. Geneva attended school at CMCS in Prinsburg until the 10th grade. She graduated from Clara City High School in 1956. On November 30, 1956, Geneva was united in marriage to Marlin Bonnema at the Prinsburg Christian Reformed Church parsonage. This union was blessed with four children: Christine, Michelle, Michael and Lonna. They moved to Wahpeton briefly before moving back to the family farm. Marlin would later pass away. On July 19, 1997, Geneva was united in marriage to Gordon Grussing and they made their home in Clara City. Geneva enjoyed raising their children and teaching them how to cook, clean and care for one another. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, puzzles and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She was also active in the church where she was a Sunday school teacher, and Ladies Aid. She was a loving wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma and friend.
