Genevieve Ardis (Christenson) Berger

Genevieve A. Berger, 86, of Willmar, died Thursday, December 19th at CentraCare Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.  Her funeral will be 10:30 am, Friday, December 27th at Kerkhoven Lutheran Church in Kerkhoven with visitation one hour prior to the service.  Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery in Kerkhoven.  www.hafh.org 

Genevieve was born March 23, 1938, in Murdock, the daughter of Alfred and Harriet (Smith) Christenson.  She grew up in Murdock, DeGraff and Kerkhoven area, graduating from Kerkhoven High School in 1957.  She continued her education at Staples in St. Cloud and later taught school.

On July 1, 1971, she was united in marriage to Elroy Berger in Benson.  Following their marriage, they lived and farmed near Kerkhoven where she stayed home and raised their daughter, Sheryle. 

Genevieve was an artist and enjoying painting, Following Elroy’s death in 2003, Genevieve stayed on the farm until moving into Willmar 15 years ago.

Surviving are her daughter, Sheryle (Russell) Cruse of Philadelphia, PA; siblings, James (Eleanor) Christenson of Big Stone City, SD and Alan (Joanne) Christenson of Bargersville, IN.

Besides her husband, Elroy, she was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Donna Goblirsch, Myrna Johnson and a brother in infancy.
