George H. Schuman, 90, of Spicer, died peacefully on Friday, February 2nd. His Mass and Christian Burial will be 11:00 am, Saturday, February 10th at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, Spicer, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at the church. Burial will be at St. Clara's Catholic Cemetery in Clara City with Military Honors by Spicer American Legion Post #545. George was born June 21, 1933, in Maynard, MN, the son of Joseph and Theresia (Kron) Schuman. He was raised on the farm and attended St. Clara Catholic School, graduated from Morris West Central School of Agriculture. George enlisted in the United States Army on December 10, 1953 and received his honorable discharge on December 9, 1955. Following his service, he returned to the Maynard area to farm.
On January 17, 1959, he was united in marriage to Rosalie Harms at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Raymond. They farmed in Stoneham Township, Chippewa County until moving to Spicer.
George’s family remembers his love of his cabin at Leech Lake, rooting for Minnesota sports teams, boating on Green Lake, hunting, fishing, playing cards and golfing. George enjoyed bestowing words of wisdom to family and friends. One of George’s greatest joys was playing with his Grandkids and Great Grandkids.
Surviving George is his wife, Rosalie; children, Cindy Schuman and Greg of Las Vegas, NV; Greg Schuman and Nancy of Nisswa, MN; Brad Schuman and Monica of Shell Knob, MO; Vicki Schuman of Newcastle, WA; three grandchildren, Kayla Schuman, Katie Schuman and Ryan and Emilee Schuman and two great grandchildren, Cal and Antonia. He is also survived by his siblings, Marjorie Schroeder, Eleanore Cedergren, Jerome Schuman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Luzetta Mitchell, Maurice Schuman, Ernestine Egan, and son-in-law, Jim Caple.
