Gerald “Jerry” McKenzie, 79, of Kandiyohi, died Friday, October 11th at Carris Health Care Center and Therapy Suites. There will be a visitation from 3-5 pm, Sunday, October 20th at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. www.hafh.org
Jerry was born January 31, 1940, in Watkins, Minnesota, the son of James and Elnora (Schacht) McKenzie. He grew up near Watkins and graduated from Kimball High School in 1958. Following his graduation, Jerry served in the United States Army.
On February 27, 1960, he was united in marriage to Judith Lee at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Annandale. Following their marriage, they lived in St. Cloud where he worked for Fellings Cabinet. They eventually moved to rural Kandiyohi where he opened another location for Fellings where he worked before starting with Nationwide Glass.
Jerry was good natured and had a wonderful sense of humor. He enjoyed roller skating, dancing, woodworking, watching the Vikings/Twins, along with his grandchildren’s sporting events. A collector of an assortment of collectibles such as Jim Beam decanters, crosscut saws, hand wood planers, beer steins and model cars.
Surviving are his wife, Judy; children: Timothy (and Jeanne) McKenzie of Richmond; Theresa (and Ron) Radunz of New London, Pete (and Bonnie) McKenzie of Willmar and Paul McKenzie of Spicer; 12 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, James (and Darlene) McKenzie of Kimball and brother-in-law, Eugene Steman of Watkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Jeanetta Gross and Shelve Steman.
