Geri was born August 10,1937, to Edward ‘Ned’ and Charlotte ‘Lottie’ (Neuens) Tisdell on a farm in Birch Coulee Township in Renville County.  She was baptized and later confirmed at St. John’s Catholic Church in Morton.  She graduated from Morton High School in 1954 and then attended Mankato State University.  On November 23, 1957, Geri was united in marriage to Robert “Bob” Simmons at St. John’s Catholic Church in Morton and they were blessed with five children. They lived in Morton until moving to Redwood Falls in 1980 and Willmar in 1988.

Geri worked at Farmers State Bank in Morton and later became the secretary for Farmers Union Claims office in Redwood Falls before relocating with the office to Willmar. Later, she worked with the Southwest West Central Service Cooperative. Geri was a gifted piano teacher and served as a piano accompanist for all Morton school events. For many years, she also served as church organist and choir director for masses, weddings and funerals.  Geri was very active in her local church. Her steadfast commitment to her faith inspired many.  She was a member of the charismatic prayer group in Redwood Falls and was instrumental in starting a similar group at St. Mary’s in Willmar.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma and cherished sister, aunt and friend to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Geri was preceded in death by her husband, Bob Simmons, her parents and siblings: Charlotte (Glen) Swartz, Florence (William) Jansen, Harriet (James) Smith, Harold (Shirley) Tisdell and Eugene Tisdell.
