Gloria Marie Hassinger, 93, of New London, died Wednesday, January 8th at GlenOaks Senior Living in New London. Her memorial service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, January 18th at Nordland Lutheran Church in rural Paynesville. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Gloria Marie Houck was born to Charles and Ingeborg Houck and raised in Minneapolis. Gloria and David (“Duke”) Hassinger were married in 1950 and spent the early years in Minneapolis, farming in the Franklin area, and raising their boys in Brainerd, MN, before moving to Aniak, Alaska for 20 years. They returned to Minnesota and settled in the New London area in 1990. Gloria was known for her love of animals, cooking and baking, gardening, reading, quilting and knitting, and for the love of family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Duke; sister, Toni; and daughter-in-law, Kris. She is survived by her sons, Tim Hassinger and Peter Hassinger; grandchildren, Craig, Renee, Charles, Nic, and Mikayla; several great grandchildren; and other family members and friends.
