Gloria (Koplos) Zimmer

Gloria Zimmer, age 88, of Willmar, died Monday morning, September 28, at Bethesda Grand Nursing Home in Willmar.

A private family service will be held.  Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Willmar.  Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar, www.hafh.org.

Gloria was born December 22, 1931, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Gust and Bessie (Curtis) Koplos.  She grew up and received her education in Willmar, graduating from Willmar High School in 1951.  On September 25, 1955, she married Simon J. Zimmer at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Willmar. They made their home in Willmar where they raised their three daughters.

Gloria worked as an operator for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, as a cashier at Star grocery, Walgreen’s Drug and Thrifty Drug Store.  She also later worked for Willmar Public Schools.  Gloria was a member of Vinje Lutheran Church, where she served on the Altar Guild and was a member of the Fall Bazaar Committee.  She also assisted with the church newsletter, crocheted many prayer shawls, and created many beautiful memories for her family.  She was also active with the Rebecca Lodge in Willmar and was a past Noble Grand. 

She is survived by her three daughters: Cheryl (and Jeffrey) Pitt of Willmar, MN, Connie (and Darrell) Costello of Chatfield, MN, and Catherine (and Roger) Wilson of Campbellsport, WI; six grandchildren: Nathan Pitt, Christin Pitt, Alexander Costello, Sarah Costello, Katelyn Wilson, and Brian Wilson; a great-grandson: Kian Pitt; a nephew: Mike (and Darla) Reynolds of Willmar, MN; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Simon in 2013; and a sister: Marjorie Reynolds.
