Greg J. Ardoff, 74, of New London, died Friday, June 28, 2019 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Hope Presbyterian Church in Spicer. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, July 8 at the Johnson Funeral Home in New London and for one hour prior to the service at church. Burial with military honors will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in New London.
Gregory John Ardoff was born on September 11, 1944 in Willmar, the son of George and Leone (Oles) Ardoff. He grew up in New London and attended New London High School, graduating in 1962. On July 22, 1965, he entered the US Army where he was stationed in Korea and served his country during the Vietnam War. On October 9, 1965, Greg was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Sandy Everson at Trinity Lutheran Church in New London. They made their home in New London after he returned home from his service in the army. Greg worked for the Minnesota Dept. of Transportation for 45 years, retiring in 2011. He also owned and operated a sign painting and pinstriping business and he was well known in the area for his free-style hand lettering.
Greg was a member of Hope Presbyterian Church, Sunburg Trolls Car Club and past delegate of the AFSCME union while at MNDOT. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, car shows and collecting knifes, coins and rocks.
Greg is survived by his wife, Sandy of 53 years; sons, Aaron (Debbie) Ardoff of Spicer, Chad (Julie) Ardoff of Dassel, and Ross (Jill) Ardoff of New London; grandchildren, Nick (Abbie), Kaden, Emily, Sam and Rachel; great-grandson, Walker; and siblings, Doug (Deloris) Ardoff, David (Pat) Ardoff and Renee Onstad. He was preceded in death by his parents.
