Ivadell E. Strande

Ivadell E. Strande, 84, formerly of Brooten died Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at Stoney River Assisted Living in Ramsey.  Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, September 19, 2020, at Big Grove Lutheran Church in rural Brooten.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.  A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.

Ivadell Elizabeth Strande was born on October 9, 1935, in Adrian, MN, the daughter of Henry and Theresa (Henning) Baumgartner.  Ivadell grew up in Fulda where she attended elementary school.  The family later moved to Osakis where Ivadell graduated from Osakis High School. 

On September 20, 1954, Ivadell was united in marriage to Earle Strande in Osakis.  This union was blessed with four sons and a daughter.  The family made their home in Minneapolis from 1954-62, New Hope from 62-65, Crystal from 65-67, Robbinsdale from 67-69, and Dayton from 69-87.  Ivadell worked as a waitress at G’s Cafe, Bennett’s Cafe, and the coffee shop at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids. In 1989, Ivadell and Earle moved back to Earle’s family farm near Brooten, where they lived until his death in 2015 when Ivadell moved to Ramsey to be closer to her sons. 

Ivadell was a member of Big Grove Lutheran Church in rural Brooten.  She volunteered in many aspects there.  Ivadell also volunteered at the Glenwood Nursing Home.  She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, ceramics, sewing, and being a wife, mother, and grandmother.   

Ivadell is survived by her sons:  Gene (Mary Jo) of Andover, David (Kim) of Garrison, Duane of Elk River, and Steven (Dawn) of Isanti; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Adrian “Buster” Baumgartner; and many nieces and nephews. 

Ivadell was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 60 years, Earle; daughter, Deborah; sisters, Evelyn, Darlene, and LaVonne, and an infant brother, Duane.
