James (Jim) Strouth, 69, of Kandiyohi, died peacefully with family at his side on February 24th. His Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am, Monday, March 1st at Church of St. Mary in Willmar and will also be live-streamed on the church's YouTube page. There will be a visitation from 1-3:00 pm, Sunday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and continue one hour prior to the Mass on Monday at the church. www.hafh.org Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester, by his daughter, Sara. In lieu of flowers and plants, a Jim Strouth Memorial be will established. His memorial will be used to continue Jim’s contributions to the Kandiyohi community that he loved so much.
Jim was born December 30, 1951, in Worthington, MN, the son of Leo and Fern (Maxwell) Strouth. He grew up on the family farm near Brewster. He studied Agri-Banking at Pipestone Vocational School and started his 44-year banking career in Klossner.
In 1977 he was united in marriage to Karen Berdan and moved to Kandiyohi that same year to continue his banking career until his retirement from Harvest Bank in December of 2016. Jim and Karen were blessed with two wonderful children, Ryan and Sara.
Jim was an active member of the Kandiyohi community belonging to the Kandiyohi Men’s Club, Kandiyohi Businessmen’s Association and St. Patrick’s Catholic Church where he served on the council and as a trustee. He spent countless hours volunteering his time for his church and community events. Jim was proud of the Kandiyohi community, and had a deep commitment to his bank customers and the surrounding farming area. He was an honest, kind, and loving man. As husband, father, family, and friend, Jim had endless love to give.
Jim will be dearly missed by his wife, Karen; son, Ryan (and Angie) Strouth of Hudson, WI; son-in-law, Brandon Fogg of Rochester; grandchildren, Tyler and Alyssa and siblings: Joe (and Diann) Strouth of Greeley, CO; Kay (and Larry) Hageman of Howard, SD; Robert (and Melody) Strouth of Worthington; Patrick (and Lori) Strouth of Sioux Falls, SD; mother-in-law, Arlene Berdan; sister-in-law, Linda Strouth of Brewster, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Sara Fogg, in 2017, brother, Jack, and father-in-law, Arnie Berdan.
