Janet M. Raveling, 60 of Brooten, died unexpectedly while wintering in Florida on February 22, 2026, at Advent Heath Fish Memorial Hospital in Orange City, Florida. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2026 at Big Grove Lutheran Church in rural Belgrade. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2026 at the Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade and for one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Janet (Baalson) Raveling was born on January 21, 1966, to Erling and Zona (Friese) Baalson in Glenwood, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Big Grove Lutheran Church. Janet attended Brooten High School, graduating in 1984. She continued her education at Ridgewater College in Willmar where she graduated with AA degree.
On June 25, 1988, Janet was united in marriage to Jason Raveling. Together they were blessed with two children and married for 37 wonderful years.
Janet worked in various fields throughout the years but enjoyed her time at BBE Public Schools the most as a para and ticket taker at sporting events. In her free time, she enjoyed playing piano and organ, camping, scrapbooking, traveling, making lefsa, and spending time with her animals.
Janet is survived by her husband, Jason Raveling; her children: Jacob Raveling of Brooten and Jessica Raveling of St. Cloud; beloved dog, Elsa; and her siblings and their spouses.
Janet is preceded in death by her grandparents; parents, Erling and Zona (Friese) Baalson; father-in-law, Jacob J Raveling Jr.; sisters-in-law, Carrie (Olson) Baalson and Karen (Gruing) Baalson; and brother-in-law, Todd Hovendick.
