San Juana Castillo Torres “Janie” Diaz, 89, of Willmar, died Monday, August 17th at her home. Her private funeral service will be at Church of St. Mary in Willmar. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. www.hafh.org

San Juana “Janie” Torres Castillo Diaz passed away peacefully at home on August 17th surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on July 21st 1931, in Floresville, Texas to Felisita (Torres) Castillo and Ignacio Castillo.  On July 17th 1971, she married Magdaleno Morales Diaz in Crookston, MN. They later celebrated their marriage at St. George Catholic church in Haskell, TX. She spent her days taking care of her family and the home they shared. Janie loved to spend her time with her grandkids and great grandkids. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, and watching her telenovelas.

Janie is survived by her husband, Magdaleno; her daughter, Donna Garcia (Rey Rivera); her son-in-law, Tom Ranney; three grandchildren: Ruby Ranney (John Vigil), Charity Torres (Ruben Torres), and Deidre Ranney (Patricio Lopez Jr.); six great grandchildren: Kyndra Dotson, Blake Dotson, Logan Dotson, Daisy Torres, Charlie Torres, and Selena Lopez; and her four siblings: David Castillo, Isabelle (Castillo) Perez, Lydia Castillo, and Ruben Castillo.

Janie was preceded in death by her mother, Felisita (Torres) Castillo; her father, Ignacio Castillo; and her siblings: Nacho Castillo, Guadalupe Castillo, Avelardo Castillo, and Martin Castillo.

Janie will be remembered as everyone’s Grandma; a warm and caring woman who was loved by everyone. There will be a gathering, to celebrate Janie’s life, following the service at 1220 Campbell Avenue NW, Willmar, MN. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.
