Jeanette Youngren Obituary

Jeanette W. Youngren, age 91, of Willmar, died Thursday, July 2, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar. 
 
Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, at the Kerkhoven Evangelical Free Church.  Interment will be at Hillside Cemtery in Kerkhoven.  Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 pm, Monday, July 6 at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.  Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or the Kerkhoven Evangelical Free Church.
 
Jeanette Winnifred Youngren was born April 16, 1929, in Albert City, Iowa, the daughter of David and Hilda (Holmen) Lindstrom.  She was baptized at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Albert City and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Murdock.  She attended elementary school in Albert City and at Chippewa County District 38 after the family moved to rural Murdock in 1937.  She graduated from Murdock High School 1946, St. Cloud State Teachers College in 1948, and later earned her Master of Arts in Special Education from the University of Minnesota in 1967. 
 
On December 30, 1961, she married Wendell Youngren at Bethesda Lutheran Church in rural Murdock.  They farmed the Youngren family farm for 50 years until Wendell retired in 1992. Following retirement, Wendell and Jeanette continued to live on the farm for several years.  Jeanette worked as an elementary and special education teacher in Atwater, Hutchinson, Willmar, and KMS school for 37 years, retiring in 1991.  Jeanette later moved to Sunrise Village in Willmar.
 
Jeanette was a member of Kerkhoven Evangelical Free Church, where she taught Sunday school and Bible school and was active in Women’s Ministries.  She was a member of the Willmar branch of AAUW, KIP Federated Women’s Club, and the Chippewa County Historical Society.  She was also a life member of the Minnesota Education Association and the National Education Association.
 
Jeanette is survived by her sister: Juvetta Freas of Eden Prairie; and several nieces and nephews.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Wendell in 2014; two brothers: Eldon Lindstrom and Willard Lindstrom; and a sister: June Fransen.
