Jeanne Poe Obituary

Jeanne L. Poe, 76 of New London, died Monday, September 15, 2025 at the GlenOaks Care Center in New London.  Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 22, 2025 at Peace Lutheran Church in New London.  Visitation will be Sunday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. at the Johnson Funeral Home in New London and for one hour prior to the service at church.  Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in New London.

Jeanne Louise Poe was born September 27, 1948, in Bemidji, the daughter of Eugene and Dorathy (Fuhrman) Church.  She attended most of her school years in Kerkhoven until her moving to New London her senior year where she graduated from New London High School in 1967 and where she met the love of her life, Jerry Poe.  They were united in marriage on September 7, 1968, and celebrated 57 wonderful years together.

Jeanne worked as a homemaker while raising her children and then worked various jobs until retiring from the State Hospital in Willmar. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who also absolutely adored and spoiled her pets. She enjoyed traveling, sewing, music (especially Elvis), gardening, genealogy and enthusiastically organizing/planning class reunions.

She will be remembered for her dedication to family, her "sweet tooth,” love of animals and her willingness to drive and go anywhere with what she called, "as the crow flies.” It was usually on a lot of backroads because she would draw a line on the map and just go. She also would say, "we can just swing by on the way," to whatever place she decided (which by the way was never on the way) so that always made for an adventure.

Jeanne passed away peacefully Monday, September 15, 2025, at GlenOaks Care Center at the age of 76. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Poe; daughter, Lisa Ford; son, Scott (Rebecca) Poe; grandchildren, Harley Ford and Jack Poe, and three sisters, Joy Cohrs, Susan Weldon and Melissa Petersen. She is also survived by other family members and loved ones.
