Jeffrey Kallevig Obituary

Jeffrey Brian Kallevig, 74, of Spicer, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on April 4, 2026, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.  His Celebration of Life will be 11:00 am, Tuesday, April 14th at Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Home in Willmar with visitation one hour prior to the service. https://my.gather.app/remember/jeffrey-kallevig.  Interment will be in Calvary Lutheran Cemetery. www.hafh.org

Jeffrey was born on May 21, 1951, to Johnny and Bernice (Freese) Kallevig. He was raised on the family farm, where he developed a strong work ethic and a lifelong appreciation for building, fixing, and creating. He went on to attend the University of Minnesota, earning a degree in mechanical engineering.

Jeff met the love of his life, Cathy, at a roller rink—a moment that would shape the rest of his life. They were married just one year and one month later, beginning a devoted partnership that would span decades. Together, they raised four children and built a life centered on love, hard work, and family.

Jeffrey had a highly successful 40-year career with Toro in Bloomington, Minnesota. His work was marked by innovation and dedication, earning him 14 patents, numerous service awards, and recognition for designing an essential rubber chute now widely used in lawn service machinery. He had a natural gift for engineering and problem-solving, always finding ways to improve the world around him.

Outside of his career, Jeff found his greatest joy in time spent with family, especially his grandchildren. He loved being outdoors, whether fishing, enjoying the fresh air at the lake house, or simply spending quiet time tinkering. He was always inventing, creating, or improving everyday items, and took great pride in his woodworking, crafting rocking horses, doll cradles, mirrors, and other meaningful pieces that became treasured keepsakes. He also enjoyed photography, often staying quietly in the background to capture candid moments of family and everyday life.

Jeff also had a special love for classic cars, most notably the 1983.5 red Camaro, he special ordered, a car that remained meaningful to him throughout his life and will now be passed down to the youngest son’s youngest son, continuing a cherished family tradition.

Above all, Jeff was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He took immense pride in his children’s accomplishments and found deep joy in watching them grow and thrive.

Jeff is lovingly survived by his wife, Cathy Kallevig; his children, Joel Kallevig, Crysil (Bill) Dougherty, Kim (Leif) Johnson, and Paul (Jessamyn) Kallevig; and his grandchildren, Evan, Liam, Balin, Hermione, Charlotte, Johann, Soren, Lana, Tyran, Ivar, and Annika.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Bernice Kallevig; his brothers, Kallman and Bruce Kallevig; his parents-in-law, Glenn and Joanne Shannon; and many other beloved family members.

His greatest legacy lives on through the family he loved so deeply.
