Jeffrey Konieczny, age 62, of Willmar, died Monday, February 22, 2021, at his home in Willmar following a battle with kidney cancer.
A private memorial service will be 1-2 p.m. Sunday, August 15, followed by a public visitation from 2-4 p.m. at Robbins Island Regional Park 4-Season Shelter in Willmar. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.
Jeffrey Henry Konieczny was born August 10, 1958, in Montevideo, Minnesota, to Albert and Agnes (Janiszeski) Konieczny. He grew up in Appleton, was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Catholic Church in Appleton, and graduated from Appleton High School in 1976. He then attended the Willmar Vo Tech and graduated in 1978. On September 23, 1978, he married Janet Lund at Trinity Lutheran Church in Appleton. They lived in St. Paul, Appleton, and Eau Claire, WI, before moving to Willmar in 1983. Jeff worked as an insurance auditor for Information Providers, Inc. for 41 years.
Jeff was a member of Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar and served as a confirmation mentor for several years. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking, and was an excellent griller. His greatest love was spending time with his family and attending his children’s and grandchildren’s activities.
He is survived by his wife: Janet Konieczny of Willmar; his five children: Erin (Doug) Zierden of St. Cloud, Adrienne Konieczny of Willmar, Katelyn (Brian) Skudlarek of Willmar, Mitchell Konieczny (Susan Mayer) of St. Louis Park, and Matthew Konieczny of Willmar; and three grandchildren: Riley, Madelyn and Carter Zierden. Also surviving are his sisters: Mary Konieczny (Craig Nissen) of Willmar, Barbara Konieczny of Willmar, Kathy (Jim) Weber of Benson, and Theresa (Dave) Dahl of Willmar; his nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
