Jeffrey Lee Strutz

Jeffrey L. Strutz, 66, of Willmar, died Friday, August 14th at his home. A private funeral service will be held with interment at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Willmar. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Home in Willmar, www.hafh.org

Jeffrey Lee Strutz was born September 24, 1959, in Watertown, SD, the son of Robert and Marles “Micky” (Stratton) Strutz.  They lived in South Shore, SD, until 1964 when the family moved to Willmar.  Jeff attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and graduated from the Willmar High School with the Class of 1978.  After high school, Jeff began working in the food industry, a career that would continue for 50 years.  He worked at The Fireside Inn alongside the West Family, Holiday Inn in Hutchinson, and the Willmar American Legion where he worked for 20 years, prior to retiring in 2023.

Jeff was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and was a member of Church of St. Mary in Willmar.

He was a longtime member of the Sons of the American Legion. Jeff enjoyed watching and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings and Twins, and also the occasional trip to the casino.  

Surviving are his brothers: Michael (Catherine) Strutz and Scott Strutz both of Willmar; sister, Jennifer Abeyta of Benson; nieces and nephews: Sara, Adam, Sabrina, Samantha, Jessica, Travis, and Trey; and other family and friends.

Jeff was preceded by his parents, Robert and Marles “Micky” Strutz; and brother-in-law, Tom Abeyta.
