Jo Ann Fehl

Jo Fehl, 72, of Spicer, died Wednesday, July 8 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. Her celebration of life will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, July 14 at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. Jo Ann Fehl was born on February 13, 1954, in Willmar, Minnesota, to Herbert and Thelma (Lamb) Aistrup. She grew up in Willmar, where she attended local schools and graduated from Willmar High School in 1972. Following high school, Jo moved to Chicago to attend Michael Reese Hospital School of Nursing, the same nursing school her mother had attended. She earned her Registered Nursing degree in 1975.

After graduation, Jo began her nursing career at St. Ann's Hospital in Chicago. A few years later, she returned to Willmar. On November 12, 1977, she was united in marriage to Russ Fehl at First Presbyterian Church in Willmar. Together they made their home in Willmar and were blessed with three children: Chris, Katie, and Kelsey.

Jo devoted her career to caring for others. She worked as a registered nurse at Rice Hospital for 26 years, serving in several departments throughout her career. She later joined the staff at the Willmar Surgery Center, where she continued working until her retirement in 2017.

Jo had a passion for quilting, traveling, and spending time outdoors. She and Russ enjoyed riding motorcycle together, traveling to every state except Alaska. She also loved camping with her family and looked forward to spending winters in Fredericksburg, Texas. Jo cherished trips to Duluth, enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends, and was always looking forward to her next adventure. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family and grandchildren.

Jo is survived by her loving husband, Russ; her children, Chris (Melissa) Fehl and Kelsey Fehl (Chelsea Hendricks); six grandchildren, Deven (Ashley) Benson, Mariah Larsson, Jager Benson, Kadin Larsson, Jack Fehl, and Drew Fehl; and her brother, Larry (Ellen) Aistrup.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Katie Fehl; granddaughter, Bailee Fehl; her parents, Herbert and Thelma Aistrup; and her brother, Gerry Aistrup.
