Joanne Williamson Obituary

Joanne Marilyn Williamson, age 87, died on February 9, 2021, at Bethesda Grand in Willmar, Minnesota.

Joanne was born in July 7, 1933, to Irvin and Lillian (Lau) Engen in Glenville. She grew up in Glenville and attended school in Glenville and Albert Lea. Joanne was united in marriage to Bernard L. Williamson on December 3, 1950, at the First Lutheran Church in Glenville. They were married for 52 years before Bernard's passing in 2003.

In addition to being a devoted wife and caring mother of four, Joanne held various jobs in Albert Lea, until retiring as a financial worker for Freeborn County.

Joanne enjoyed traveling and camping with Bernard in their motorhome and spending winters in Mesa, Arizona.

Joanne especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren, spending time with them, and attending special events, whether it was sports, dance, graduations, and weddings. Joanne treasured the time she spent with her friends in Minnesota and Arizona. She was always an avid Twins and Vikings fan.

Joanne is survived by her sons, Brad Williamson and Bernie (Sandy) Williamson; daughters, Julie (Tom) DeBoer and Jamie (Kim Mollberg); grandchildren, Lisa (Rob) Jensen, Lacey (Jace) DeBoer, Katie Williamson, Heather (Ross) Hagen, Bernie Williamson III, Erin (Jason) Lindahl, Tom (Terrin) DeBoer, Andrew (Amber) DeBoer, Carly (Nick) Lenzen, Alex Mollberg and John Mollberg; 22 great-grandchildren; and brother, Ron (Bonnie) Rasmusson. Joanne was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard; parents, Irvin and Lillian; stepfather, Ole Rasmusson; brother, Roger Engen; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Kenneth (Arlene) Williamson, Margie (Lloyd) Jorgenson, George (Donna) Williamson, Harold (Dee) Williamson, and Frances (Roger) Blakestad; and daughter-in-law, Jackie Williamson.

A memorial service and celebration of Joanne's life will be held at a later date. Our family is especially grateful for the compassionate care and support Joanne was given while living at St. John's, Copperleaf, and Bethesda. Her family prefers any memorials be designated to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
