John Norbeck Obituary

John E. Norbeck, age 82 of Belgrade passed away from natural causes on November 10, 2021, at Holly Ridge Manor in Starbuck.

Friends may call on Sunday, November 14th from 4 to 8 p.m. at Harvey Anderson & Johnson Funeral Home in Belgrade. A Private Burial service will be held on Monday, November 15th.

John Ellis Norbeck was born on September 14, 1939, in Thief River Falls, Minnesota to Engrebret and Mary (Olson) Norbeck. John was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Caroline Bruggeman on July 25, 1959, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Thief River Falls. John and Caroline were married for 62 years.

John worked right out of high school at the Coast to Coast Store in Thief River Falls, MN.  In 1965 John & Caroline purchased their own Coast to Coast Store and moved their family to Belgrade.  For a short period of time, they relocated to Underwood MN, to run a Coast to Coast Store in Fergus Falls.  They returned to Belgrade and John began to work for Jonsered Chain Saw Importer.  After two years John started working for Power Tools Company traveling in the Midwest states for 10 years. After the closing of Power Tools in  1983, John took on his own business venture starting Jenco Distributing. In 1999 they purchased the Clothes Garden Laundromat in Belgrade which is still in operation today. They sold Jenco Distributing in 2001 and retired. They then began spending some time in Arizona in the winter.  John was a member of the Minnesota National Guard from 1955-1965, and a member of the Belgrade City Council from 1984-2000.

Survivors include his spouse Caroline, and their families, Angie & Jeff Gerhardson, Amie (Trevor) Ascheman, Nicole (Eric) Gerding, Shannon (Anton) Imdieke of Belgrade; Kent & Teresa Norbeck, Valerie (Jeff) Kummer, Sarah Norbeck, Keith (Shelly) Norbeck of Watford City ND; Kris & Dale Winter, Ashley Winter, Jordan Winter of Greenwald MN; 15 great-grandchildren & a grand puppy Charlie; sisters Judy & Benny Deja of Milwaukee WI, Pam & Bob Herman of Sun City AZ.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Engrebret & Mary Norbeck, and brother Elroy Norbeck.
