Joleen Julius, 91, of Grove City, died Saturday, January 9th at St. Cloud Hospital. There will be a private service held at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar with burial to be in Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery in Little Falls at a later date.
Joleen was born August 26, 1929, in Old Hickory, TN, the daughter of Milton and Naomi (Thompson) White. She grew up in Tennessee and Missouri and eventually in Texas where she met her husband to be, Donald Julius. They were united in marriage on December 30, 1950. Upon Don’s Honorable Discharge, they moved to rural Grove City where they farmed and milked cows. Don preceded Joleen in death on August 9, 2014 and Joleen continued to live on their farm.
Joleen always enjoyed a game of cards, visiting with neighbors, and her bowling league for many years. Her daughter, Cynthia, has fond memories of their family trips every July when they would load of the car and travel the country.
Surviving Joleen are her daughter, Cynthia (and Rocky Mattsfield) Julius; granddaughters, Rachel (and Corey) Rueckert, and Jessica (and Shannon Rutherford) Julius; three great grandchildren, Mackenzie (and Lindsay Stepan) Julius, Brodie Maresch and Rhys Rutherford; and great, great grandson, Briar Stepan Julius.
Besides her husband and parents, Joleen was preceded in death by her sons, Vincent and Michael, granddaughter, Alana Julius, and brother, Harold White.
