Joyce Ann (Youngkrantz) Damhof

Joyce Ann Damhof, 60, of Blomkest, died Thursday, July 24, at Cura of Willmar, with her family by her side. Her memorial service will be 3:00 pm, Monday, July 28 at United Lutheran in Lake Lillian. Her visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm, Sunday and continue one hour prior to the service all at the church. Burial will be at Christina Cemetery in Lake Lillian. Joyce Ann Damhof was born on October 18, 1964, in Willmar, Minnesota, the daughter of Earl and Buela (Knoll) Youngkrantz. She grew up in the Lake Lillian community and was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church (now United Lutheran). She graduated from Bird Island-Lake Lillian High School in 1983 and Ridgewater College in 1985. On April 12, 1986, Joyce was united in marriage to Kenten Damhof at First Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian. They were blessed with two children, Sara and Andrew, and made their home in Blomkest. Joyce was a thankful employee at Allied Grain Elevator and Mid-Central Steel Erectors. She was a grateful member of her beloved “Fab 5” friend group, along with their husbands.

She was a member of United Lutheran Church. Joyce found joy in the outdoors – boating, fishing, kayaking, vegetable and flower gardening, and catching butterflies. She loved camping and sitting around the bonfire, especially at her family’s lake place on Lake Carrie, and going on drives with Kenten. Reading a good book was also one of many passions she had. Joyce loved her family fiercely, and her grandchildren were the highlight of her life.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Kenten; and their children: Sara (Mike) Benson of Olivia, and their children Ryker and Tessa; and Andrew (Hailey) Damhof of New London, and their children Asher and Kinsley. She is also survived by her brothers: Dean (Jane) Youngkrantz, Gary (Jody) Youngkrantz, Glenn (Patsy) Youngkrantz, and Allen Youngkrantz – all of Lake Lillian – as well as her brother-in-law Mike Ryan, and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Buela; and her sister, Beverly Ryan.
