Joyce Beatrice Nelson

Joyce Beatrice (Dale) Nelson, 91, of Willmar, died Thursday, February 5th at her home in Willmar. Her celebration of life will be at 1:00 pm, Thursday, May 28th at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to her service. Please wear pink to Joyce’s service in her honor. Arrangements are with Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar, www.hafh.org 

Joyce Beatrice Nelson was born on May 28, 1934, in Willmar, Minnesota, to Harold and Myrtle (Wilson) Dale. She attended Willmar Elementary School and graduated from Willmar High School in 1953. Joyce continued her education at Hamline University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1957.

On December 17, 1955, Joyce was united in marriage to Martin “Roger” Nelson at Bethel Lutheran Church in Willmar. Together, they shared a life centered on faith, family, and community.

Joyce dedicated her career to nursing, working as a registered nurse at the Willmar Regional Treatment Center. She served with compassion and professionalism for many years before retiring in 1994.

A devoted member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Joyce was deeply involved in church life. She sang in the choir, directed the choir, and taught Sunday and Wednesday school, sharing her love of music and faith with generations of students and fellow parishioners.

In her spare time, Joyce enjoyed playing bridge, sewing, and performing as a baritone player in the community band. Her kindness, talents, and commitment to serving others will be remembered fondly by all who knew her.

Joyce is survived by her children: Todd (Janet) Nelson, Carrie (Tim) Hinz, Christine Iverson and Jennifer (Moe) Mansour; seven grandchildren: Jenna, Rockefeller and Jackson Nelson, Rebecca Iverson, Shadia, Amir, and Samia Mansour; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Lois (Jim) Bullock.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger; and parents.
