Judy Lorraine Grant was born in Willmar, MN, on April 16, 1947, to Arnold M. and Agnes (Loge) Johnson of Pennock, MN.  She grew up attending District 14 South Country School in rural Pennock, attended Mamrelund Lutheran Church in Pennock, and graduated from Willmar High School in 1965.

Judy made her home in Tennessee and worked for 25 years at Nationwide Studios until she retired.  In retirement, she worked at HATS-Mental Health Services in Gallatin as a personal assistant for those in need.

Judy genuinely loved people and animals.  She was a giving friend to many.  The twinkle in her eye, her never-ending smile, and her laughter made her a joy to be around.  She lived her faith through her actions.  She was a caregiver for those who were homebound and needed assistance to stay in their homes.  She offered to help others in whatever their need would be.  Judy took in many rescue dogs that were abandoned or disabled and gave them many comfortable years.  Embroidery was a favorite pastime and she made several hand embroidered gifts for loved ones.  Judy loved to take road-trips and travel abroad.  She always looked forward to coming back to Minnesota to visit her sister Lori and brother-in-law Dave, extended family, and friends.  She especially loved Christmas holidays spent in Minnesota where she could catch up with everyone at family gatherings, eat a littler lefsa, and other Scandinavian treats.  She enjoyed spending time with her beloved companion of 27 years, Leon Baxley.

Judy is survived by her sister: Lori (David) Carlson of Pennock; niece: Michelle (Brian) Christian of Eden Prairie; nephew: Ryan Carlson of Alexandria; and great-niece and great-nephews: Ella, Connor and Dylan Christian; aunt: Harriet Crosier.  Also surviving are Leon Baxley’s family of three daughters, nine grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren; many cousins; many friends; and her special canine: Buddy.

She was preceded in death by her beloved companion: Leon Baxley; her parents; several aunts and uncles; and other relatives, friends, and pets.
