Karen June Sell

Karen June Sell, 82, of Willmar, died Thursday, May 26th at Carris Health Care Center in Willmar. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, June 1st at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar. Visitation will be one hour prior to her service. The burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo. 

Karen June was born June 3, 1939, to Paul and Anna (Hohler) Brunner in Benson, where she grew up on her family’s farm that they rented. They eventually moved to Granite Falls where Karen’s parents purchased their own farm. At a young age, Karen learned the household chores of the family farm. She attended school in Granite Falls where she graduated from high school. She continued her education in Minneapolis where she studied clerical administration. On January 16, 1965, Karen was united in marriage to Stanley Sell in Raymond. To this union, two sons were born: Kim and Scott. They made their home in Clara City where Karen stayed at home and helped raise their children. Karen and Stan later divorced in 1972. Karen started working as a Nurses’ Aide in a nursing home in Clarkfield and later worked at Bethesda Care Center in Willmar.  Karen was a longtime member and officer of a Willmar TOPS group. She enjoyed music, cooking, traveling, and spending time with family. She loved visiting her sister in Colorado and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Karen is survived by her sons: Kim (Francesca) Sell of Lake Geneva, WI, and their children: Justin, Zachary, and Gavin, and Scott (Vicki) Sell of Lakeville, MN, and their children: Brandon, Brittany, and Braedyn. She is also survived by her siblings: Phil (Joyce) Brunner of Granite Falls, Gene (Sharon) Brunner of Granite Falls, John (Marcia) Brunner of Everette, WA, and Mike (Kathy) Brunner of Glenwood and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Sharon Williamson.
