Kathy Kay Barrett, 75, of Pennock, died Thursday, September 15th at her home surrounded by loved ones. Her funeral will be 3:00 pm, Tuesday, September 20th at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 pm, Monday at Harvey Anderson Funeral Home and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. www.hafh.org Memorials preferred to donor’s choice.
Kathy was born September 2, 1947, in Morris, MN, the daughter of Alvin and Hulda (Golden) Hanson. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1965.
After meeting a handsome man, Allen Barrett, at the Appleton Races, they were united in marriage on November 13th, 1965 and happily married for 57 years. Following their marriage, they lived in Willmar. They later moved to their home on St. John’s Lake, near Pennock, where they have lived for the past 40 years.
Kathy just celebrated her 75th birthday with family and friends. She enjoyed attending senior citizens, going to garage sales, and coffee dates at any time! Indian history was an interest to her as well as gardening, playing Buck Euchre and just browsing. Family trips and her cat, Pumpkin were her true joys. Kathy loved fairies and angels.
Surviving are her husband, Allen; daughter, Shannon (and Rich) Lorentzen of Willmar; five grandchildren: Brielle Barrett of Willmar; Brooke (and Preston) Fischer of Atwater; Kate (Jack Weatherly) Barrett of Milwaukee, WI; Amanda Freiborg of Bloomington and Dexter Freiborg of Richfield; four great grandchildren: Adyssey, Everett, Wyatt, and baby girl coming in 2023; her sister, Gloria (and special friend, Tim) Kepner of Appleton, WI. Also special friends: Vera, Lindy, Amy, Gerry, and cousin, Patty.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Tammy Freiborg in 2018, sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Ted Olson and brother-in-law, Bill Kepner.
