Keith B. Hanson

Keith Hanson, 72, of New London, died Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the Mankato Hospital. A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 10, 2021 at Peace Lutheran Church in New London.  Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home in New London and for one hour prior to the service at church.   Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. 

Keith Boyd Hanson was born on January 17, 1949 in Glenwood the son of Willard and Borgel (Sandven) Hanson. He grew up in Villard and New London, attending New London High School, graduating in 1967.  In 1971, Keith was united in marriage to Laurie Dahlberg. This union was blessed with four children, Shawn, Kyle, Shannon, and Kelli. They made their home in New London where Keith owned Hanson Repair and Tire Sales with his brother, Jerry. In 2002, in partnership with his son, Kyle, they relocated and established Hanson’s Tire and Lube. Keith retired in 2015, after 50 years in business.

Keith was a member of Living Word Lutheran Church.  He was active in his community serving in the New London Jaycees, New London Lions and New London Chamber.  In his younger years he enjoyed bowling, driving race cars, riding motorcycle and raising golden retrievers. In retirement he enjoyed traveling, collecting antiques, cars, tractors, spending time at the lake, telling jokes and stories. His favorite story to tell on Kelli’s birthday was how he delivered her in the car on the way to the hospital.  He loved spending time with his family especially traveling with Laurie, deer hunting with his sons, giving his grandchildren rides on the four-wheeler and attending all their events.   He will be remembered for his faithfulness and kind, loving and gentle spirit.

He is survived by his wife, Laurie of 50 years; children, Kyle (Kristen) Hanson, Shawn (Amy) Hanson, Shannon (Chris) Flegel and Kelli (Ben) Klukas; grandchildren, Jason, Brittany, Courtney, Kelsie, Kendra, Erica, Jameson, Jenna, Monica, Hannah; great-grandchild, Brexson; siblings, Jeff (Lavon) Hanson, Jerry (Barbara) Hanson, and Larry (Judy) Hanson, sister-in-law, Barb Hanson and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who were all very special to him. 

Keith was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jim (Pat) Hanson and Russ Hanson and sister, Connie Pederson
